A plethora of summer and winter activities attract locals and visitors alike. People come to Smithers for fishing, boating, camping, hiking, skiing, shopping or to listen to the local musical talent. Many visit (and have moved to) Smithers for its easy access to the outdoors and the local entertainment scene.

From Prince George:
On HYW 16 from Prince George drive through Smithers turn on to Lake Kathlyn Road (left turn)
From Prince Rupert:
Lake Kathlyn Road is 4 km before Smithers (right turn), drive to Kroeker Rd (follow blue B&B sign's with numbers). Turn onto Kroeker Rd, drive until you reach Horlingsroad (2. right, follow blue B&B sign again) up to No.10434 (see sign with CANADIAN FLAGS)
