This is James' story:
My name is James Osmond , I am doing this in the memory of one of the strongest men that I have ever met my Papa, Maurice Gordon Rafuse. In the summer of 1999 my Papa Maurice Gordon Rafuse was diagnosed with prostate cancer and later that year had his prostate removed to try and prevent the spread of the cancer cells. After having his prostate removed he underwent a years’ worth of Chemotherapy treatment, and was on many different expensive medications. In 2004 my Papa suffered from congestive heart failure and was hospitalized several times because of it, during this time it was thought that the cancer was in remission, sadly it was not. My Papa ended up suffering from bone cancer and in April of 2005 went through extensive radiation treatments. Continuing his fight my Papa was hospitalized in June of 2005 where he received several blood transfusions. My Papa continued fighting constantly surrounded by his loving family all the way till he drew his last breath on August 1 2005. This is the story that has inspired The Big Push to Prevent Prostate Cancer
